Immigration in Britain up by a fifth

Official figures from the Home Office and the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have revealed that immigration increased by one fifth last year – boosted by the influx of foreign students being allowed into the country.

A kickboxer from Britain has been named by police forces in Thailand as the prime suspect in a fatal knife attack.
Lee Aldhouse, who is now on the run, is wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of US Marine Dashwan Longfellow. Detectives in Phuket would like to talk to Mr. Aldhouse about the stabbing.

Colombian jet plummets to ground after lightning strike

Following a lightning strike, a Colombian passenger jet has crashed, killing one of the passengers on board and injuring 114, it has been reported.
The flight – which was travelling from Bogota into the Caribbean resort island of San Adres – crashed short of the runway. At the time of the crash, locals had reported lightning and heavy winds.
