Google adds phone calls to Gmail

Internet giant Google has confirmed that users of Gmail in the USA and Canada will be able to make phone calls direct from their email accounts.
The ‘phone call’ service will be rolled out this week, and will allow free calls to numbers in the USA and Canada until the end of the year. Calls to other locations, such as the UK, start from as little as 2 cents per minute.

The price of a loaf of bread in Britain could reach a record-high after Russia brought in a ban on all exports of wheat and other grains.
Brought in by prime minister Vladimir Putin, the move will see 25% of the total world’s wheat exports dry up. Russia is currently suffering from its worst drought in over a century – and has seen much of its harvest destroyed by wildfires.

Social networking costing economy billions per year

According to a detailed analysis by MyJobGroup, websites such as Facebook and Twitter – known as social networking sites – are costing the British economy up to £14bn a year in lost working time.
Over 50% of British employees said they update their personal accounts while at work, while a third admit to spending half an hour per day using the networking sites.
