Singer George Michael has been charged with the possession of cannabis, it has been revealed.
And according to Scotland Yard, the 47-year-old singer also faces police charges of driving his car under the influence of drugs.
Georgios Panayiotou – which is his real name – was arrested back in July after crashing his car into a photography shop in Hampstead, North London.
He has a history of drug use, and was on police bail following the crash. He was charged for his actions when he reported to a police station in Camden, North London earlier today.
A spokesperson for Snappy Snaps, the shop the singer crashed into in the early hours of Sunday 4th July confirmed damage to the shop shortly after the accident.
The news highlights the problems police are facing on Britain’s roads today. It comes at a time when the government has announced they are rolling out a new drug testing tool that can detect whether someone has taken drugs on the spot. This tool should help police clamp down on drug driving.
