A Turkish man arrested in New Zealand for beating his wait claims police understand that the couple were taking part in a lively traditional Turkish dance.
The dance, which originated in the 1930s, involves simulated fighting – such as arm throwing, slapping and various wrestling moves.
Then the defendant appeared in court, a judge adjourned the case and ordered police to watch a DVD of dancers performing the ‘kolbasti’...
